Let me tell you about a mysterious story that actually happened.

The Green Children

One day in August 1887 near the small village of Banjos, Spain, a boy and a girl walked out of a cave. Some peasants working in a field saw them, and were very amazed. The two children had skin as green as grass.

When seen closer the children were found to have almond shaped eyes of an Asiatic type. They could not speak Spanish and wore clothes of material never before seen in the Spain of the 19th century. No one could understand there language and no one could analyze the fabric. For five days the boy and girl would not eat any’ Of the various foods brought to them. Finally they began to eat beans. By then the boy was so weakened that he died, but the girl survived. The green color of her skin gradually faded.

After learning some Spanish the girl described the country she came from and how she had left it. Her story only made the mystery deeper. She said her native land had no sun at all, and was separated from a sunny land by a river. One day a sudden whirlwind had lifted her and the boy and deposited them in the cave.

The green girl of Banjos lived for only five years more. The mystery of how she and the boy had appeared in Spain was never solved
